  22. I have the exact same PAR config and you should expect some degradation
  23. in the image quality.  The PAR just like many other hard-disk based video
  24. recorders uses JPEG to compress the images before putting them on the
  25. hard drive.  JPEG is a 'lossy' compression method.  The amount of loss
  26. depends on the amount of compression applied.  Until you reduce the
  27. compression ratio to something like 3:1 your going to see the JPEG
  28. compression artifacts, especially in gradients and sharp edges.  You might
  29. want to look into the new DDR from DPS called the Perception Video Recorder.
  30. It achieves full motion playback while only compressing at about 3:1.
  31. I saw it at NAB this spring and was quite impressed with the quality.
